visit to holland
It is almost one year ago when one of KISDO members in Holland, Miss. Tina Pinto Tamba informed this house that a retired couple in the Netherlands wanting to donate used items to KISDO. These include clothes, books, toys and electronics. This is in line with one of KISDO's goals of reaching out to donors internationally so that help can reach Kissi communities in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Mr. Fayia James, another KISDO member in the Netherlands went on a fact finding mission to see these items.
On 23rd September 2019, Mrs. Agnes Kumba Baindu Nyuma-Acha, the KISDO deputy administrator based in UK travelled to Holland to make arrangement for the transportation of the items to Africa. The delegate was warmly received by Tina Pinto. In her welcome remark, Tina commended KISDO for its current achievements and future plans. She added that she is ready to work with KISDO so the Kissi people can benefit from some of these opportunities that come her way whilst in the Netherlands. She further stated that she had long been waiting on KISDO to collect whatever items they were able to dispatch to Africa.
Due to current financial constraints on KISDO, we cannot afford to transport all these huge items to Africa. Mrs. Nyuma-Acha therefore decided to collect some light items namely clothes on behalf of Kisdo which she can transfer through UK. It was further suggested that another future journey is to be made back to the Netherlands in November 2019 for more clothes collection.
KISDO accepts that it cannot do everything especially not at once but there is a plan under way for a second visit in November 2019 to bring more items from the Netherlands.
Let me conclude with a quote from Xi Jinping and compared this to KISDO’s vision. “KISDO world is full of both hope and challenges. KISDO should not give up on its dreams just because the reality around KISDO is too complicated; KISDO should not stop pursuing its ideas just because they seem out of our reach. Let KISDO work tirelessly to promote the purpose and principles of forming an organisation and together build a community with a shared future of mankind”.
It is KISDO’s aim to advance its development of the Kissi community and continues to seek to expand shared interests with it door being open and to share opportunities with others through cooperation.
